Biography: Peter Mathias Pirkelbauer

peter_eviseDr. Pirkelbauer is an assistant professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and is the head of the iProgress research lab. A native of Austria, he studied at the Johannes Kepler Universität where he received his Engineer’s degree in Computer Science. Thereafter, he moved to the United States to continue his education, and received his MBA and a PhD in Computer Science from Texas A&M University.

Prior to joining the UAB faculty, Dr. Pirkelbauer was a postdoctoral researcher at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he worked as a member of the ROSE Compiler group.

His research interests include programming languages, source code analysis, transformations systems, and non-blocking programming techniques. His self-stated goal is to support the development and maintenance of real-world applications and high performance codes.
